WORK DONE

PAINTWORK

Every square inch of original paintwork stripped off to bare metal and resprayed using Cellulose primer and Top coat. (Fast Red No. 9179). All paintwork then flatted off with 1200 grade wet & dry and hand compounded and polished. Took months!

 BODYWORK

All original except for the installation of a scratch built front air dam under the car to get airflow through the radiator. (Original air dam unobtainable).
T-Top divider removed, spot welds drilled out, sandblasted and repainted satin black and spot welded back together.

 ENGINE

No modifications to cylinder heads or block (except for Phosphor-bronze valve guides to cope with today’s mucky fuel).
ECU, Catalytic converter, AIR pipes, distributor and all smog equipment removed.
Alloy inlet manifold fitted (Edelbrock-dual plane).
Non-emission type thermostat housing fitted (and polished!).
Mallory Unilite distributor fitted with 5000rpm rev-limiter (soft touch).
MSD Ignition.
New custom made HT leads that are routed under the engine.
Polished Carter AFB carburettor (performance series, 600cfm.).
Stainless Steel "Aeroquip" lines fitted for fuel and heater hoses.
Microfine anodized fuel filter.
Headers joined to modified downpipes. ‘Cat back’ exhaust standard.
Headers and part of downpipe wrapped in exhaust heat wrap.
Chrome rocker covers.
Air conditioning retained and fully functional.
Alternator, thermostat housing and various aluminium pipes polished. The alternator took some 6 weeks to do alone!
Air conditioning evaporator and all lines polished.

 DRIVETRAIN

Standard 700R4 box. Propshaft and rear axle unchanged. All in excellent condition.
Since the ECU has been removed, transmission lockup is not operational, so a lockup kit will be fitted to enable 4th gear to be selected.
B&M Megashifter fitted to trans.

INTERIOR

Original brown interior removed and replaced with custom designed red and black velour.
Original steering wheel removed and replaced with "Grant - No Wheel, No Steal" removable wheel and immobiliser device. This makes the removal of the steering wheel a 5-second operation and with the fitting of an armoured cover to the column effectively completely immobilises the car!
Stereo original equipment and not working too well! In need of replacement.
All polypropylene that was brown has been changed to black using special paint.
Original brown carpet replaced with black and full insulation.

WHEELS AND TYRES

No modifications. Original steel wheels retained, but with the original stainless steel trim rings polished. Standard size of 215/65-15 all round. I destroyed one electric drill polishing these rings up!
Tyres reversed on the rims to get raised white letters to the outside!
Centre caps discarded and new ones custom made at home!

LIGHTS

All original except for the replacement of the built-in spot lights by British equivalents on modified brackets.
Lights rewired back to the American spec. (i.e. yellow marker lights and no white sidelights).

BRAKES

Master cylinder replaced and entire system filled with fresh fluid and pressure bled.
New Pads, shoes and all retaining hardware (including sandblasted drums) painted in enamel and "cooked" in oven! Much to the dismay of my wife!
Front calipers stripped and cleaned and painted red.
Front flexible pipes replaced using new copper sealing washers.
New copper brake pipes routed along rear axle to new slave cylinders.

SUSPENSION

No modifications. Some may be coming though!
Every balljoint bleed nipple cleaned and joints regreased.
New front and rear shockers.

 ELECTRICAL

All ECU wires removed from engine bay to interior.
New loom made up to interface MSD with car.
MSD unit and rev limiter fitted in exactly the same position as the ECU was.
Cruise control wiring modified to exist without ECU. (Still being worked on).
Cooling fan relay moved to side of coil on firewall and wiring rerouted to tidy it up.
All wiring down inlet manifold sleeved in silver heat resistant tape.
Prior to my ownership, a separate washer motor was wired in to replace the one missing from the standard wiper motor.
